Biography

I am A. Rahaad. “Rahaad” is an Iranian name and means “Traveler” in Persian language. This has been my philosophy in life as I believe that life itself is a journey to discover your personal story. I was born in summer 1988 in Iran. Always being so curious and passionate about cameras and their functionality, analogue cameras appeared as magic boxes to my excited eyes. Inevitably I grew up discovering the world through analogue camera viewfinders.

At the age of 13, my great interest in photography made me attend an “Analogue Photography” workshop in 2001, and this was my first experience in the artistic world. Then in 2003, I chose Graphic Design as my major in high school to begin studying arts academically. Because of the importance of photography lessons in graphic training courses, and also because of my personal passion about photography, I managed to get well trained and empowered in photography during these years and later, while I was studying Graphic Design at University. And I got my Bachelor of Arts in 2015.

During my years of study, I focused on photography more seriously as my career. Then I continued taking specialized photography courses available in the best Iranian universities, “University of Tehran” and the “University of Art”. Attending these courses for three years, I could benefit from the knowledge and experience of the best photography masters in Iran to expand my artistic abilities and ideas.

The workshops included “Analogue Black & White Photography”, “Analogue Colour Photography”, “Photo Criticism”, and “Lighting & Portrait Photography”. It is good to be said that those were the years that photography was being taught using analogue cameras and films in art schools and art universities of Iran, so, fortunately I had the chance to be among the latest generation of artists in my country who learned photography by analogue methods.

This was how my career as a fine art B&W photographer began, as I chose analogue photography to be my permanent media.

I have always had a great passion for literature and started writing at the age of 17. However, in 2008, when I was 20 years old, I began writing in the form of Free Verse (“Vers Libre” in French literature and “Sher e Sepid” in Persian literature) and have felt a deep connection to this literary form since then.

I believe that visual arts have certainly influenced my character and the atmosphere in my literature as an author, just as literature has been able to impact the vivid drama in my fine art photography.

In the autumn of 2023, I published my first poetry book titled “White Harmony”. This book is the first installment of a trilogy comprising Free Verse Poems and Black & White Photographs (Photographic Appendix) authored by A. Rahaad, a creative journey that began in 2008 and continued until 2023. The photographs of this trilogy were captured using an analogue Canon New F-1 camera with 35mm film, and this trilogy is bilingual, written in both Persian and English languages.

The Printed Version of “White Harmony” book contains 20 Free Verse Poems (Persian and English) and 5 Black & White Photographs (“White Harmony” Collection). Also the Digital Version of this book has been registered and published as Non-Fungible Token (NFTs) under the name of the author (A. Rahaad), on platforms such as Foundation.app and Objkt.com, as well as my own official website www.a-rahaad.com .

Starting my journey in NFT-ART in the autumn of 2023 this way, “White Harmony No.04” from “White Harmony” Collection got chosen to be exhibited in the Photography category of the NFT.NYC 2024, New York City, US.

I mint my Photograph Collections on Foundation.app , Vitruveo.xyz and Layerr.xyz , as well as my Books and its Poems on Objkt.com .
